True Crime Author LaDonna Humphrey targets ex boyfriend in Melissa Witt Killing

LaDonna Humphrey is accused of relentlessly pursuing Daniel Watson as a suspect in the unsolved murder of Melissa Witt. Watson, who has consistently maintained his innocence, claims he is being unfairly targeted by Hyumphrey who is alleged to be driven by personal and financial motives.

In a sceenshot released by one of LaDonna Humphrey’s confidants, LaDonna explains that she has been working the “Daniel Watson” angle for years, and that his roommate Nathan (Oliver) saw a Mickey Mouse watch that led him to believe Daniel Watson had kept Melissa Witt’s Mickey Mouse watch as a trophy after allegedly murdering her.

LaDonna Humphrey allegedly remained in contact with Daniel Watson, posing as a friend to him, all the while telling her friends, family, and colleagues that he was the man who murdered Melissa Witt. In the following screenshot, LaDonna puts a photograph of Daniel Watson up against a police sketch of a person of interest in the Melissa Witt case and refers to him as “Evil”.

In a EIN Presswire release, LaDonna tells a story about someone named Nixon O’Neil who speaks out against his former roommate, who he believes killed Melissa Witt. It is clear that Nixon O’Neil is Nathan Oliver.

Daniel Watson says this is problematic because Nathan Oliver was never his roommate, and that there was never a Mickey Mouse watch on display in his home. Daniel Watson has a solid alibi for the date of the crime and cannot fathom why he is being accused through LaDonna Humphrey’s books, documentary film, and press releases.

If LaDonna Humphrey and the Fort Smith Police were in fact close to capturing Melissa Witt’s killer, why would she be creating press releases leaking the information? Wouldn’t sharing this information be damaging to the case?

Later in the episode, Julie Murray, whose sister Maura Murray disappeared in 2004, also had a contentious experience with Humphrey. Despite initial cooperation, Murray’s family became wary of Humphrey’s motives, leading to accusations of fabricated evidence and misrepresentation.

On Twitter, Julie Murray shares a side by side comparison of the fabricated/edited email and the actual email that her family received from LaDonna Meredith (Aka LaDonna Humphrey). This email was later circulated in the true crime community to defame and cast suspicion towards Fred Murray almost 10 years after it was sent.

The email has a backwards header that shows Fred Murray receiving the email, not sending it.
